Swinging

How do you like to go up in a swing,
Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
Ever a child can do!

Emma's really getting the hang of swinging herself, and she couldn't be prouder!
Amabelle is still thinking her swing is "wobbly" but she's only too
happy to keep sissy company
The girls absolutely adore their swings - and are just old enough now that I can fearlessly send them out to play,  just keeping an ear open for unusual sounds as I'm working in the kitchen.  They plead and beg to go outside, and for too long we had to say no, it's too cold, or too late, or we're eating dinner in 5 minutes, or it's dark out, or it's tub time... But now the weather is more mild, the clocks have changed so it's light out longer (just about the only darn benefit of spring ahead I'd say), and the girls are digging our "yes!  go out an play" with a shovel.  They throw on their goulashes most days, as they're the shoes they can put on unassisted, grab their vests, and sprint down the steps.  The peals of laughter waft up seconds later.
The girls taking gliding to new heights

Often their laughter lures me away from the cutting board or clean up to witness their joy.  Don't you wish that you could bottle up some of that enthusiasm?  That unapologetic energy and joy?  They squeal and laugh urging the glider higher and higher, and I've witnessed it enough now that I keep my "be carefuls!" and "slow down's" confined to my own head and my two sweaty palms.  No need for me to push my super fearful behaviors onto them too.  True, I never broke a bone, but I never saw the view from the top of the rock wall either.

As they days grow longer, so does their time outdoors.  The swings are like a  siren call to them, the only thing that could beckon them away from the TV, and the only guarantee of an amazing time had by all.

Up in the air so blue?
Oh, I do think it the pleasantest thing
