Job Perk

Originally posted on Friday, February 24, 2012

I know I get grumpy about working and all down in the mouth about “this isn’t how I wanted it to be” and blah blah blah... (How can you stand it really... I’ve been an incessant whiner for the last two years!?!)  Granted, the current employers are a bit nuts and the requirements enough to drive any sane person to the brink... but today, as I led an art staff meeting with Jack on my lap and the happy chatter of Emma and Belle creating “paper airplanes” in the background I had to stop and think:  How freaking lucky am I?!?
Seriously!  Who is at meetings with their babies all around them?  True, I’m not with them as much as I would be if I wasn’t working... but then we’d have no health insurance and would be out on our ear.  So today, before work can do something else to send me into a rampage, I am completely and totally thankful.  I am so amazingly thankful that I have a job in an economy that has so many without.  I am so amazingly thankful to my incredible and selfless Auntie who cheerfully comes three days a week with special treats and entertains my babies to no end, and to the incredible Nono who troops in early on Mondays and Wednesdays to a chorus of cheers.  Without them I couldn’t even begin to entertain the possibility of doing this job at all.  I’m thankful for my husband who picks up all the slack, and to the rest of our family for their support and help over the weekends and evenings. xoxo
