shadows of the past

I let it happen again - I blinked and now three months have passed - three pretty fabulous months full of amazing moments that I am now relying on my faulty memory to recall dusty details decades from now.  Please, please, please let me remember SOME of it!

2013 is here - how - I'll never know.  Minutes pass (and I find I forget to eat breakfast), Hours pass - I should definitely make a bathroom stop. Weeks - laundry again.  Months - wow, I accomplished precious little in the last 30 days, and now a whole new year.   Before I get all weepy and sad for posterity (which is inevitable for me I'm afraid - the new year brings hope, but also it fills me with remorse for the millions of things I should have done or could have done differently) I thought I would share some of the  visual memories I hope to preserve from last year - even if I don't have a written dialogue to go with it.  When I think back on 2012 these are some of the pictures that appear as faded watercolors in my mind.

Ushering In Summer...

Hello my friends... I hope that you are all having a super marvelous Memorial Day Weekend.  It's always one of my favorite weekends of the year - filled with joy and hope, the excitement of summer and more hamburgers than you can shake a fist at.

A Mother of a Day

Oh friends, where to begin on this... the mother of all Mother's Days?  It was filled with all sorts of merriment and excitement and through no lack of effort on anyone's part ended up with me stripping puke covered clothes off myself not 1, not 2, but three times.  Them's the makings of a good story.  Too bad I'm too tired to tell it really well.  Still, I will try my best - this is, after all, for posterity.

Of Easter {2012}

Easter Morning 2012
The sun rose on a beautiful Easter morning this year, and in this house four happy and eager kiddos rushed down stairs to see if the holiday delivered a magic that only they could grasp.  The four brightly colored balls hidden around the family room greeted them and sent them into peals of giggles as they bounded around the house bouncing like the balls they were chasing.

{egg}cellent painting

It was a little late in the day on Saturday that we remembered the Egg-Painting.  Whoops.  I can't say that I thought it out over much - just boiled some eggs (after googling and checking with 3 people on how to do it - for some reason I thought it may be harder then it actually is), slapped a table cloth on the table, and coated some Q-Tips in food coloring.  As a last minute snazz-a-razz decision I grabbed some 3-d foam stickers to jazz up any white spots.

A Little Bit Irish

Aunt Carole, Mimi, and GG all decked out in their Irish finery
What is it about St. Patrick's day that makes us all feel like we're a little bit Irish?  No one fake celebrates Republic Day on June 2.  We don't don lederhosen on St. Swithin day... but St. Pat's?!?  We're all over it. Maybe it's because we all look good in Green - or because we need SOMETHING to make us think spring is coming before Easter gets here... Or perhaps it PopPop's amazing selection of Irish inspired beverages (I'd like to recommend the Irish Gold Martini - seriously delish!)

Crafty

The sun is shining... all sorts of spring holidays are approaching, but what’s a gal to wear?!  Yes Emma, Belle and I had a serious discussion about our spring accessories where in we planned a series of small crafties to make our winter wardrobes pop.  It went a little something like this: {hit it}

4 little {thumb} bodies love you

This years kid created valentine... no snazzy in process shots, but believe you me, my mind is whirring on how to improve upon this creation in the future... font, placement... However, I cannot argue with the kiddos excitement over the craft... they loved it... Inky thumbs?!?  Little body decorations?!?  Gluing?!?  PURPLE RIBBON!?!  Gasp.  This is just about the best thing that happened to the girls since... well... yesterday.

Spring Craft: Easter Cards

And the Spring Crafts continue!  I originally saw this adorable little Easter Card while perusing my current obsession inspirational goldmine:  Pinterest.  How cute is it?!?  Thumb prints?!?  That's totally up my alley.  I was intrigued by this one right away because of the colorful prints, and it turns out they cleverly used water based markers for the effect... this was a total score for us because we didn't have to purchase a darn thing to make these holiday cards for our family and friends.
